Annual Legacy Gala Honors Two Nonprofits Serving Deserving Children

Two non-profit children’s charities were honored at the third annual Legacy Gala, March 24, at Casa Del Mar Hotel in Santa Monica.

Co-founders Lisa Haisha (founder of Whispers From Children’s Hearts Foundation and The SoulBlazing Institute) and her husband Lee Aronsohn (co-creator of Two and A Half Men and former executive producer of The Big Bang Theory) hosted the evening with  celebrities, musicians and Silicon Valley executives

The evening’s Legacy Luminaries included Maria Conchita Alonso, recording artist Emmanuel Kelly, comedian Kathy Buckley, Panamanian recording star, Richard Rodriguez and celebrity designer Sue Wong.

Proceeds from the Gala are gifted to service-oriented non-profit organizations that improve the quality of life to deserving children.

Whispers from Children’s Hearts Foundation specializes in supporting the emotional and spiritual needs of children with music, theatre and singing.

The 2017 Legacy Awards recipients receiving a check for $10,000 from the foundation included:

  • Akuyoe Graham, founder of the Spiritual Awakening Foundation, dedicated to helping at-risk youth and children in the juvenile justice system, and;
  • Rickie Byars Beckwith, founder of Kuumba in Motion, an innovative learning academy that nurtures children’s creativity by inviting them to participate in an education centered on their own unique way of learning.

Also part of the evening was the presentation of a proclamation from the city of Los Angeles to Haisha and Aronsohn recognizing their efforts in shining a spotlight and supporting the various children’s charities.

Whispers from Children’s Hearts Foundation is a 501(c)(3) global non-profit children’s organization working to foster compassion, cross-cultural understanding and financial support to children locally and abroad. Through Superhero SoulBlazing Capes of Courage, Haisha’s archetypal superhero characters, children are inspired to address their greatest challenges with courage, humor and song.

Through volunteer and humanitarian trips nationally and internationally, the Whispers from Children’s Hearts Foundation improves the lives of children dealing with debilitating diseases, as well as orphaned children and their surrounding communities. “We’re committed to finding the best organizations that offer programs for kids worldwide to get involved with,” said Haisha. “We offer people the rewarding opportunity to give back in many ways.”
